There are also many things that we would like to do that we don’t have the volunteer manpower to do at this time. So if you are interested in getting involved, please contact us and we can provide you with more details on the long-term open positions (events, communications for next year, and more).
There are currently several one day or short-term volunteer needs that we are asking you to consider taking on. Please contact Sonal Goda ’95 at Sonal@HomesBySonal.com if you can offer your time for any of the following positions.
Alumni Day, November 26, 2011 from 1:00 – 4:00pm: We are excited to invite all alumni back to visit our campus, reconnect with fellow alumni, learn about the extensive renovation coming up, and tour the tech labs. The following positions will require approximately 5 hours of volunteer work between now and Alumni Day, as well as approximately 5 hours on Alumni Day itself. In particular, we encourage members of classes with reunions coming up next year to consider these positions, especially if you are considering helping organize your own class reunion next year (classes of ’02, ’92, ’97, and ’07). Volunteering this year will give you a head start on the reunion process! More details will be provided for each position if you are interested.
- Colonial Kids Camp Coordinator(s) – we need one or two dedicated alumni to run activities
and care for children ages 5-14 during Alumni Day.
- Tech Lab Coordinator – contact the tech lab teachers and see which ones are willing to participate.
Set up table and coordinate tours on the day of the event.
- NHS Volunteers and Handout Coordinator – design handouts (from existing template), and print
for Alumni Day. Manage student volunteers that will hand these out, as well as Colonial Kids Camp volunteers
and PA announcements volunteer.
- Boosters Coordinator – Contact the various booster organizations and see which ones would like
to participate in offering their items and refreshments for sale in the auditorium lobby.
TJ Open House, Saturday October 1, 2011 from 8:00am – 1:00pm: Prospective TJ students (8th graders) and their parents are invited each year to learn more about the school, as part of their decision-making process for applying to the school. There have been 3,000 to 4,000 visitors at this event each year in the past and this is the first time alumni will be involved! We are looking for about 15 alumni volunteers to share their experiences during and after TJ, in an informal manner. We will have a table and/or simply be walking around speaking with the prospectives and their parents.
Graphic Designer: We are working on a new website for the alumni association. Our goal is to roll it out by the end of the year. We have a good team in place, but we are lacking a graphic designer to work on an exciting new look/color scheme for the website, as well as code the design to work with our new website.
